RACE CATEGORIES

Location: Kinsmen Sports Centre

PARKING

Participants and spectators can park for free in the main parking area of Kinsmen Sports Centre.

FACILITIES

Athletes are asked to enter and exit the Kinsmen Centre through the Fieldhouse doors.

Do not use the main entrance or the swim exit doors.

Athletes can get changed in the Kinsmen change rooms by the pool.   Please bring a lock.

The Kinsmen Centre washrooms will be available.  There will be no port-a-potties onsite.

SCHEDULE

7:00am            Kinsmen Sports Centre opens

7:00am            Athlete Check in/Chip Distribution/Body Marking

7:00 am           Transition opens

7:30am            Pool open for warm up

7:50am            Athlete Briefing on pool deck

8:00am            16-23 Girls Heat

8:15am            16-23 Boys Heat

8:30am            Full Distance swim-run Heats

9:00am            Try-a-Tri Heat

9:30am            KOS (7&under) Heat

9:35am            KOS (8-11) Heat

** Athletes must check in at the start area on the pool deck 15mins prior to their Heat.

TIMING/RESULTS

The races are chip timed.  Athletes will get their chip and race number at check in.  Athlete numbers will be written on their arms.

Results will be available at Zone4.ca.  There are no awards being handed out.

RACE DISTANCES

Full Distance Swim-Run:  1,000m swim; 8km run (2x4km laps)

16-23 Girls & Boys: 400m swim; 4km run (1x4km lap)

Try-a-Tri: 300m swim; 2.5km run (1×2.5km lap)

KOS 8-11: 150m swim; 800m run (1x800m lap)

KOS 7&under: 50m swim; 400m run (1x400m lap)

COURSES

Full Distance/16-23 Girls & Boys

Swim: The swim will take place in the Kinsmen Centre warm-up pool. The pool will be configured to 50m.  Athletes will enter and exit on the East end of the pool (hot tub end). Lap counters will be on deck to assist in counting laps and a kick board will be inserted on the last lap (100m to go).  It is the responsibility of the athlete to count their laps as well.

Run: The run course is a 4km out and back course.  Athletes will come out of transition on the west end before doubling back to the roadway and turning north along the service road behind Kinsmen Park.  Athletes will cross the North Saskatchewan River along the pedestrian bridge at the West end of the park (under LRT bridge).  Once across the bridge, athletes will turn left (west) on the multiuse paved path running adjacent to River Valley Road.  Athletes will continue along this path just past the Victoria skating oval before turning around and heading back to Kinsmen Park to complete the 4km lap.  When heading back toward Kinsmen Centre, athletes will have the choice to head into the finish by the ball diamond or turnaround and head back out for a second lap.

Full distance athletes will do 2 laps.

Try-a-Tri

Swim: The swim will take place in the Kinsmen Centre warm-up pool. The pool will be configured to 50m.  Athletes will enter and exit on the East end of the pool (hot tub end). Lap counters will be on deck to assist in counting laps and a kick board will be inserted on the last lap (100m to go).  It is the responsibility of the athlete to count their laps as well.

Run: The run course is a 2.5km out and back course.  Athletes will come out of transition on the west end before doubling back to the roadway and turning north along the service road behind Kinsmen Park.  Athletes will cross the North Saskatchewan River along the pedestrian bridge at the West end of the park (under LRT bridge).  Once across the bridge, athletes will turn left (west) on the multiuse paved path running adjacent to River Valley Road.  Athletes will continue a short distance along this path almost to before turning around and heading back to transition to complete the 2.5km lap.

KOS 8-11

Swim: The swim will take place in the Kinsmen Centre warm-up pool. The pool will be configured to 50m.  Athletes will enter the pool on the West end (by dive tank) and exit on the East end of the pool (hot tub end). Lap counters will be on deck to assist in counting laps.  It is the responsibility of the athlete to count their laps as well.

Run: The run course is an 800m looped course.  Athletes will come out of transition and head into the Kinsmen field.  Athletes will loop around the soccer and football pitches before heading to the finish line. The entire run course is on the grass.

KOS 7&Under

Swim: The swim will take place in the Kinsmen Centre warm-up pool. The pool will be configured to 50m.  Athletes will enter the pool on the West end (by dive tank) and exit on the East end of the pool (hot tub end). There are no laps, just one end of the pool to the other.

Run: The run course is a 400m looped course.  Athletes will come out of transition and into the Kinsmen field.  Athletes will loop around the splash park before heading to the finish line. The entire run course is on the grass.
